Dr. Takuo Ishida, DVM, PhD, Dipl. JCVP, is a board-certified veterinary pathologist and Medical Director of Akasaka Animal Hospital in Tokyo, Japan. He obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Nippon Veterinary and Zootechnical College and his PhD from the University of Tokyo. He also completed postdoctoral training at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Ishida currently serves as Chief Pathology Consultant for IDEXX Laboratories in Tokyo. He has played an important leadership role in Asian veterinary medicine, serving as President of the Japanese Society of Feline Medicine and the Federation of Asian Small Animal Veterinary Associations (FASAVA). His research interests include feline viral diseases, chronic kidney disease, immunologic diseases, lymphoma, and stem cell therapy in companion animals.
